Executive Summary for the Unity Digital Media Production and Dissemination Grant
This project will distribute Unity principles through today’s most far-reaching and efficient format: digital media. Easy and convenient access to Unity-themed digital content will allow ministry leaders to meet people where they are (online) and in a manner in which people are accustomed to accessing information (media) both inside the ministry and in the virtual world. Media content will deliver Unity principles to individuals and groups, inviting them into the quest for spiritual growth.
People seek out spiritual leaders and organizations for guidance in navigating questions of ultimate concern. An online media house would be a destination point for viewing high-quality content that demonstrates Unity teachings through visual, narrative, documentary, interview and educational methods. The media house will use content congruent with Unity ministries' teachings—a positive path for spiritual living—providing ministries the ability to share their messages beyond the geographical boundaries they serve.
The work of ministries is to create and engage spiritual community, not to create media content. This project will support ministries in connecting with today’s media-rich culture. The Unity media house will be a user-friendly, online resource for anyone seeking answers to life's big questions.
We will produce, annually for the duration of the project, 20-24 videos, 500 still images (with text), and 10 audio files. All of this content will be hosted on a dedicated website created through this project, from which ministries will be able to download for delivery via their preferred platform (website, Sunday service, social media, electronic newsletters, etc.). Additionally, we will make available an annual DVD collection of content produced the previous year for those who prefer offline access.
Unity-specific content is globally inclusive and honors all spiritual paths, and as such will be readily received by online viewers as well as congregations.
